Apple Device Support for Law Firms
Attorneys who prefer Mac shouldn't have to compromise on security, day-to-day support, or Clio compatibility. We make it work.
One firm, two platforms, one standard
Many law firms run both: some attorneys on Windows, others on Mac. That works well only when the two platforms are managed as one environment.
We manage the whole environment, Windows and Mac. On the Apple side, that means deployment, day-to-day management, security, and integration with Microsoft 365 and Clio.
Mac management
We centrally manage Macs in your Microsoft Entra ID environment using MDM tools like Jamf and Apple Business Manager. This means:
- Consistent security baselines on every Mac
- Approved apps installed the same way for everyone
- Encryption enforced with FileVault and Intune
- Updates and patches managed on schedule, not left to attorneys
- Remote wipe and lock for lost or stolen devices
Integration with Microsoft 365 and Clio
Apple devices work well with Microsoft 365, but only when configured correctly. We handle:
- Outlook, OneDrive, and Teams on macOS, configured and enrolled in Intune
- Single sign-on with Entra ID so attorneys use one set of credentials
- Clio on Mac: browser-based access and integration with Outlook for Mac
- Conditional access policies that apply to Mac devices the same way they apply to Windows
iOS and iPhone support
Many attorneys use iPhones for email, calendar, and Clio Mobile. We manage them through Apple Business Manager and MDM:
- Work accounts are enrolled and can be remotely wiped without touching personal data
- MFA is enforced on firm accounts accessed from iOS devices
- App management and policy enforcement for firm applications
Ongoing support
We provide on-site and remote support for Apple hardware and software, and we deal with the vendors for purchases, repairs, and returns.
We know the problems mixed Mac and Windows environments produce, and we fix them ourselves instead of sending you to Apple's general support line. For ALT Care Plus firms, Apple devices are covered like everything else.
Supported platforms and tools
Mac management tools we work with include Jamf Pro, Jamf Now, Apple Business Manager, and Munki. We support all current MacBook, iMac, Mac mini, and Mac Pro hardware, as well as iPhone and iPad devices.
Why Apple devices belong in a managed law firm environment
Apple hardware is reliable. In our experience managing devices across dozens of law firms, MacBooks and Dell laptops consistently outperform other brands in reliability and support cost. We've written more about why the laptop decision matters more than firms expect.
The difference is management. Enrolled in Apple Business Manager and tied into the firm's identity setup, a Mac becomes just another device the firm can support and account for.
Who this is for
Apple device support is the right addition if your firm:
- Has attorneys or staff using Macs that are not centrally managed
- Is onboarding new attorneys who prefer Mac and want it to work with Clio and Microsoft 365
- Has iPhones used for work that aren't enrolled in MDM
- Wants consistent security controls across both Windows and Mac devices
- Is moving to Apple hardware for reliability reasons and needs help with the transition

Yes. Clio is browser-based, so it runs the same on macOS as anywhere else, and the Outlook for Mac integration covers email filing. The difference between "works" and "works well" is configuration, which is exactly what we handle.
Yes. Macs enroll in the same Entra ID identity, the same Intune compliance policies, and the same conditional access rules as your Windows machines. Attorneys sign in with one set of credentials, and IT sees one fleet instead of two.
Personal iPhones are how most firms run, and that's fine. The work side is enrolled separately from everything personal, so if a phone is lost or an attorney leaves, the firm wipes its own data without touching photos, messages, or personal apps. Staff keep their privacy, and the firm keeps control of client information.
No. Mixed Mac and Windows environments are normal in law firms, and managed correctly they behave as one environment. The hardware can vary as long as the security, identity, and support behind it don't.
Not in any way that matters once devices are managed. An unmanaged Mac is a security gap, and so is an unmanaged Windows machine. A managed device of either kind, with enforced encryption, patching, and access controls, is what insurers and clients actually expect.
It depends on how many devices you have and what you already own. Apple Business Manager is free, and MDM licensing is modest per device. We scope the tooling to your environment, and Mac management usually folds into the same monthly arrangement as the rest of your devices.
